The Los Angeles Lakers key player, Christian Wood is expected to miss at least two weeks of the regular season until his status is fully assessed after undergoing a knee surgery.
Wood underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and the team clarified that he will undergo a reevaluation in eight weeks. The Lakers still have Jaxson Hayes and Anthony Davis as their top two big players even without Wood.
Wood, who underwent multiple knee procedures, ended his 2023–24 season in March with arthroscopic surgery. The Lakers had the option to use him in the second half of their first-round series against the Nuggets, but chose not to.

Wood, a versatile player with a strong perimeter presence, was signed by the Lakers in 2023 for a $5.7 million contract. However, his average shooting was less than seven points per game in his first season in Los Angeles. Despite having a player option for his second year, his performance was not good enough and therefore landed a $3 million contract in Los Angeles.
Wood, who signed a minimum contract with the Lakers for the 2023-24 season, had hoped for a comeback season but was delayed due to injury. He never truly established himself as a reserve big man, averaging 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in the previous campaign.
Wood, who is turning 29 soon, is starting a pivotal period in his career and exercised his player option to rejoin the Lakers. His return from injury to the team wll be a very big boast for the Lakers.
